Soft vintage handwoven Mali indigo striped fabric with visible mending and patina showing age and tell-tale signs of its journey, has been sewn into the simplest of cylindrical shapes with a narrow black drawstring at each end. Buy a pair to plop at either end of furniture arms or buy one and place at small-of-back on chairs or other areas like banquettes, benches or bedside. Vary up your pillow shapes by adding a round bolster neck-roll to your existing arrangements.

The charm of vintage African cloth is in each textile's imperfection, from which we can intuit a certain story of the cloth. In Mali, it is dyed, woven into narrow strips and these strips whip-stitched by hand to create yardgoods for garments or decor. I buy them as "panels" from my African salesman when he comes to town and then fabricate by hand and machine at Miller Upholstering shop in Minneapolis Minnesota.
